About this event

This webinar will provide the latest facts, figures and contexts, so community rail officers and volunteers can feel confident in promoting train travel as the sustainable option.

It will help our members play an integral role supporting the rail industry to communicate rail's green credentials and assist in a green recovery of the railways.

The webinar will be hosted by Jools Townsend from Community Rail Network, with provisional panellists including:

  • Mark Gaynor from Rail Delivery Group - the membership body providing leadership to Britain's rail industry, including cross-industry work on decarbonisation and broader sustainability issues
  • Ollie Pendered from Riding Sunbeams - their vision is to power railways with unsubsidised, direct-wire renewable generation whilst delivering significant social impact for line-side communities.
  • Bruno Muller from Porterbrook - the company that owns a quarter of Britain’s rolling stock and aims to play a leading role in the transition to cleaner energies on the railway
  • Stephanie Evans and Kerri Worral from Greater Anglia - which recently published its first annual Environment and Energy Report, detailing its achievements and plans for greener travel in the region; they will be joined by Jayne Sumner from Essex & South Suffolk CRP

There will also be interactive discussion for everyone to share their thoughts, ideas and experiences.

- Communicate the development and importance of our railways to communities, enhancing understanding and pride, and promoting rail as a key part of sustainable, healthy travel.
